Ron Messerly receives the State Bar of Arizona Member of the Year Award, 2005

On December 29, Ron Messerly passed away. Among many other accomplishments, the Snell & Wilmer lawyer was honored by the State Bar of Arizona in 2005 as its Member of the Year. His obituary begins:

“Ronald Wayne Messerly, a diehard Arizona Cardinals fan, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2012 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. He was 46. A giant kid at heart, Ron’s sense of adventure, his kindness, and his generosity live on.”

His complete obituary is here.

It was only this past November that I noted the death of another lawyer, Michael Mulchay. By terrible coincidence, Mike also was a State Bar co-Member of the Year, with Ron, in 2005.

Rest in peace.

Michael Mulchay

Arizona lost a great lawyer on November 12 when Michael Mulchay passed away. He was a strong supporter of the State Bar of Arizona, one who offered a huge amount of himself pro bono to assist the organization in the purchase of its current Phoenix building. You may read more about the building here (story image is below).

His obituary begins:

“Michael V. Mulchay lost his courageous battle against brain cancer on November 12, 2011. Mike will always be remembered as a loving husband and father, an excellent and dedicated lawyer, an amateur historian, a sports fan, a loyal Wildcat, a genuine friend and a ‘generally nice guy.’”

Among many other accomplishments, Mike Mulchay was named the State Bar Member of the Year (with Ron Messerly) in 2005.

His funeral mass will be held this Friday, November 18, 1:30 pm, at Brophy Chapel, Phoenix.
